Cheers Devices, backed by Chinese company T. S. Joya, entered the Indian market with its Smart Turbo smartphone recently. Targeting the price conscious consumers, the brand offers a decent deal on paper at a price of Rs 5,299. So, is it worth buying? Let’s check out.
Design: The smartphone looks ordinary and is mostly made of plastic. Overall, the Cheers Smart Turbo feels solid in the hand.
Display: The Smart Turbo features a 5-inch IPS display which is bright, however, the colours are not much accurate. The viewing angles are good. Outdoor visibility at full brightness is decent. Overall, I got this this that the display could have been better.
Performance: The phone comes with a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor with 512MB RAM. Overall, the experience is not smooth. I witnessed several lags in doing regular things. The device runs on Android 4.4.2 operating system and the custom UI includes some cheesy tweaks. There are far better performing devices in this price range and it did not impress me much.
Camera: The device comes with an 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera, which sounds pretty good on papers. However, the sensor used is not of good quality. The image captured in good lighting condition, appeared dull and a bit grainy too.
Battery: The device comes with a 1800mAh battery and will manage to deliver an entire day on minimum brightness.
Verdict: It would have been great if Cheers had focused more on delivering a smooth experience and not the spec sheet. Overall, there is nothing much to cheer about.
