Bulandshahr gangrape: Anees Ansari, new SSP says investigation is on

Attending a press conference, the newly appointed SSP of Bulandshahr, Anees Ahmed Ansari on Tuesday, said that evidence has been collected and investigation is being conducted toroughly.

Attending a press conference, the newly appointed SSP of Bulandshahr, Anees Ahmed Ansari on Tuesday, said that evidence has been collected and investigation is being conducted toroughly. He said that though he is currently unaware of the statements given, but confirmed that the suspects have been confisticated and are being questioned. Anees Ansari was appointed as the SSP of Bulandshahr after Vaibhav Krishnan was suspended following the brutal gangrape of a 35-year old woman and her teen daughter on the National Highway 91,  near Dostpur village. The state government has suspended seven police officers, including district SP Rammohan Singh, and set up a 300-member task force that arrested three suspects on Monday.

The family of the victim has threatened to commit suicide if they are not given justice within 3 months. The brutal rape brought people on the streets to protest against the lawlessness in Uttar Pradesh. #LawlessUP was seen trending on twiter as people remained enraged against the increasing criminal activities in the state. While opposition parties in the state have condemned the “Gunda raj” in the state, Samajwadi Party leader and Uttar Pradesh minister termed it a “political conspiracy.” The Congress and the Bhartiya Janata Party have demanded the sacking of khan for such outrageous statements.

The BJP has asked the transfer of the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), citing the incompetence of UP Police. Many leaders including former Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati had earlier asked for the resignation Of Akhilesh Yadav stating that the crime rates in the states have had a major spike in the last few years and the government has failed to control it.
