BSEB 12th result 2017: The results of the Bihar School Education Board and its students have been released. Data shows the results have been dismal for both the board and the students of the Science and Arts stream. 70 percent of the students who took the Science stream have not been able to clear the exams and 76 percent of the students who took the Arts stream in Class XII have also failed. Meanwhile, 73.76 percent of the students from the Commerce stream have passed the exams. The Science stream, in which only 30.11 percent of the students passed witnessed an average of 44.66 percent marks, according to a Business Standard report.
Nearly 13.5 lakh students appeared for the Class 12th exams of the Bihar Board. The exams had been conducted in February of this year. According to a Hindustan Times report, the board will award a cash price of Rs 1 lakh, a laptop computer and a Kindle e-reader to the toppers. Those who get the second and third position will get Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.
Anand Kishor, Chairman, BSEB told the Indian Express, ”All original answer sheets were digitally scanned. After they are scanned the answer sheets were sent to strongrooms. Evaluators only saw the virtual answer sheet.
Last year, when the new rules against cheating were not enforced, BSEB exams saw 67.06 percent of the students in the science stream pass, while 80.87 percent of the students in the arts stream passed the Class XII exams. Last year BSEB topper created a controversy after she was unable to answer basic questions from her subject. She was unable to clear a retest later, according to an Indian Express report.
