BJP president Amit Shah who is on a visit to Chhattisgarh today said that the party will target 65 seats in the Assembly polls in the state, likely to be held next year. There are 90 seats in the state Assembly. Praising the Narendra Modi government during a press conference in Raipur, the party chief Amit Shah added that the period between 2014-2017, will be considered as the “transformation period” of the country. Talking about the work of the NDA government since come to power in the Centre in 2014, he said that the government has done works for all walks of life including for women, farmers, poor and tribals.
“Since 2014 general elections the party has strengthen its position in the country with every polls”, Amit Shah said. The BJP chief, while speaking on the achievements of the government said that the country has established itself as global leader by launching 106 satellites recently. Shah further said that the culture of our country was further recognised by the west after the promotion of yoga worldwide. Earlier in the day, the Congress demanded an apology from him for his comments on Mahatama Gandhi. Slamming the BJP chief, the party said that his comments were an “insult” to the father of the nation, a PTI report has said.

“Rather than fighting casteism, they (BJP) identified even the father of the nation with his caste. This shows the character and ideology of the ruling party and its president. Where will these people take the country?” party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala was quoted as saying while demanding apology from him as also PM Narendra Modi, by the news agency.The BJP chief had referred to Mahatma Gandhi as “bahut chatur baniya” (a very clever Baniya ) while delivering a speech in Raipur yesterday, the agency added.
