BJP today poked fun at Rahul Gandhi amid suggestions of an alliance of Opposition parties against the saffron party, wondering what will be the Congress vice president’s fate in such a formation.

After Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar gave call for such an anti-BJP front and Congress leader Digvijay Singh also spoke in its favour, BJP said it was anyway fighting these parties “who are working in tandem to derail the Modi government’s development agenda”.

“Digvijay Singh has said so. Another Congress leader Shakeel Ahmad also spoke about unity (of non-BJP parties). This is basically an assembly of frustrated and disappointed parties who have been exposed by the Modi government.

“They had been so far working behind the scene against the government. Now they have come out in open. But what will be the role of Rahul Gandhi in such an alliance? Congress chief Sonia Gandhi should clarify it,” party national secretary Shrikant Sharma said.

He also noted that RJD chief Lalu Prasad had earlier said that he would work at the national level and Kumar would take care of Bihar.

“Lalu ji should also speak about his ally Nitish’s national ambitions,” he said.
