Adressing media after party’s National Executive Meet, senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley on Monday said that PM Narendra Modi focussed on taking party’s role beyond politics in his speech. “Election ladna or jeetna to chalta rehta hai, par party ka aur kya role hona chahiye ye unka (Modi) is par unka dhyan tha, (Fighting and winning elections keeps going on, but PM focused on the fact that party has a role beyond politics)” Jaitley said. “Main point of PM’s speech was that we should take BJP beyond elections & make it instrument of mass participation,” Jaitley was quoted as saying by ANI.

FM said that PM made two different points on Opposition’s current role. “Pradhan mantri ne kaha ki vipaksh ke liye satta upbhog thi, isliye vipaksha mein kaise rehna ye unhe nahi pata, (PM said that power was a material of enjoyment for Opposition, that’s why they don’t know about how to sit in Opposition)” Jaitley said. “Harsh language can’t be a substitute for any substantive charge,” Modi had said at the meet, FM revealed.

Stressing that BJP is the most important political party in the country, Jaitley said 13 CMs, 6 Deputy CMs, 232 state ministers, 1500 MLA, 334 MPs were present in BJP national executive meeting. He said that people are looking towards BJP for change. He further said that today at 6:30 pm PM Narendra Modi will make an announcement of a big scheme. Modi assured that the fight against terrorism as well as corruption will continue, Jaitley added. The finance minister also announced that on October 31, a Run for Unity programme will be announced by the party.
Earlier, BJP adopted a six-point agenda, seeking to rid the country of poverty, terrorism, casteism, communalism and corruption, to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a new India by 2022, PTI reported Union minister Nitin Gadkari as saying. Passed at the party’s national executive meeting, the political resolution sought to dispel concerns over the state of the economy and praised measures like GST and demonetisation. The party also supported government’s stand on the Rohingya issue.
