Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Shriram Sonkar on Tuesday allegedly slapped a Traffic Home Guard after an argument over the leader wrongly using a one-way route in Lucknow, ANI reported. According to the report, IG Range J N Singh had directed the SSP to take action against the culprits in the case involved in a brawl that led to the slapping of a Home Guard. Earlier on April 20, a video of another BJP MLA Rakesh Rathore slapping a toll plaza employee had gone viral on social media. Times Now had posted the video on Twitter and claimed that Rathore had assaulted the employee in Bareilly following an argument. The report had also alleged that the MLA had been drunk and had taken matters into his own hands after the employee had allegedly disregarded him.

However, Rakesh Rathore had denied any such claims. In an interview with news agency IANS, he had said, “this is not me. The person shown in the video is Mahendra Yadav, a Samajwadi Party leader from Biswa”. Although the visuals had not been clear due to being shot at night. Earlier, NDTV had reported that Naresh Meghwal, the husband of BJP lawmaker Chandrakanta Meghwal had been involved in a fight over a traffic ticket to a BJP worker. Meghwal had allegedly barged into a police station with a large group and had slapped an officer of the law.

The officer in charge had told NDTV that one policeman was manhandled and beaten up and a complaint had been lodged against Meghwal and 6 BJP workers. Chandrakanta Meghwal had however told reporters that her husband and other workers had been attacked and detained by the police. Meanwhile, Rajasthan minister Rajendra Rathore had said that no one had the right to take the law into their own hands.a
