Hours after RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav slammed the BJP following Income-Tax department raids on properties which were allegedly linked to his family, saying, “if Lalu’s voice is suppressed, crores of Lalu will come up in the country”, the BJP dismissed his claim of being a leader of Yadavs, a report by Indian Express has said.
Speaking to the paper, Bhupendra Yadav, BJP’s general secretary-in-charge of Bihar said that common people believe that action must be taken against those, found guilty of corruption. While pointing out that assets disproportionate to one’s income have always been a matter of concern in politics, he was quoted by Indian Express as saying, “The Bihar government is silent on this and is not carrying out a proper investigation of corruption cases. Hence our party will wage a war against corruption and do whatever is required to be done”.
When asked to comment on allegations of Lalu and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram whose houses, were also raided by the CBI yesterday, the BJP leader said that the agency was doing its work. ” The facts are in the public domain. The allegations by the Opposition are baseless.Won’t the renewed action against Lalu Prasad turn Yadavs against the BJP in Bihar? He has been known to gain politically from such actions in the past, ” he further told Indian Express.
The paper also quoted him as saying, “No community stands with corruption. Social justice does not mean making politics the fiefdom of any particular family. Social justice means equal rights to all, equal opportunity to all, for society to grow. This issue has nothing to do with the Yadav community”.
