In a recent attack against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday, Bharatiya Janata Party’s Union Minister Piyush Goyal has demanded immediate resignation from Arvind Kejriwal’s government following its recent Rs 12,000 per plate anniversary function. In a recent press, Goyal said that BJP demands probe into the alleged Rs 11 lakh exuberant party that AAP organised to celebrate its second anniversary in February last year.
Goyal further said that BJP condemns AAP of misusing state’s money and thus demand immediate resignation from the Delhi government. “The party which came into power in Delhi with a promise to bring political reform has misused government system,” said Goyal during the conference. BJP’s leader of opposition in Delhi Vijendra Gupta who accompanied Goyal during the press conference also took a dig at AAP. He said, “This is a question to those, who before the Delhi state elections, had said that we will not take any VIP facilities including government residence, cars or allowances and have said that they will open community food outlets for poor.”
Further providing the details of AAP’s anniversary function held in February last year, Vijendra Gupta said, “Kejriwal organised a function on February 11, 12, 2016 to celebrate AAP’s Delhi govt anniversary in Taj Mahal hotel, where it spent approximately Rs 11 lakh on 80 guests.” Gupta also said that people wants to know what he served to these 80 guests that it costed him over Rs 12,000 per plate.
Recently another BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi on April 6 took a dig at Kejriwal against the backdrop of the Shunglu committee report pointing out ‘gross abuse of power’ by the Delhi government. She said, “Arvind Kejriwal is heading a ‘dishonest’ government and is ‘misappropriating public money for personal gains’. A lot of irregularities have taken place while filling up several posts … to the extent that a Class 12 pass-out was appointed as an advisor.” Many BJP leader have alleged the AAP government of being swamped with ‘illegalities and irregularities’.
