Congress leader and MP Randeep Surjewala has accused the BJP of purchasing lands worth crores just ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s demonetisation announcement of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes on November 8. Hitting out at the central government he said, “Just before demonetisation BJP purchased properties worth crores in Bihar & other areas to turn black money into white”

He added, “Ab to ye saaf ho gaya hai ke kaale dhan ka aur BJP party ka choli daaman ka sath hai”. This is not the first time the Congress leader has taken a dig at the BJP. In one of his recent tweets on BJP’s app survey on demonetisation feedback, he posted this on Twitter, “Modi Govt manufactures yet another lie through self-serving survey on DeMonetisation. You can’t fool people of India through such gimmicks (sic).”

In his most recent tweet, Surjewala also shared some documents – he referred to them as proof of the land purchased by the BJP in various states. Later he also alleged demonetisation to be the biggest scam that needs to be probed through JPC and responsibility should be fixed.

As per a report published in Catch News, it was stated that a member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from Digha agreed of BJP buying lands in large parcels. As per him these land purchases were not just limited to Bihar, but also in other states of the country.

The size of the land purchased ranged from 250 sq ft to half an acre valuing somewhere between Rs 8 lakh to Rs 1.16 crore.
