After the video of a brutal beatdown went viral in Muzaffarpur, the victim, std XII student of the Kendriya Vidyalaya left the town on Saturday. The teen was seen beaten up by two of his fellow students. The police has arrested the two boys, who also happen to be brothers and booked them, on charges of assault on Thursday evening. The victim is a resident of Vaishali and used to live with his maternal grandfather who is a businessman in GAnnipur of the town of Muzaffarpur town. The concerned incident happened on August 25 when the boy was beaten down by the two brothers, of std Xi and XII respectively. The victim was seen apologising in the videos. The accused are sons of a BSF personnel who is lodged in a jail in Muzaffarpur since 2013 on extortion among other charges.

It is reported that the boy was repeatedly thrashed as he had complained against the two brothers to the school authorities. The boy’s grandfather told IE that they had forgotten the incident as they could not possibly fight the brothers. But after the video had gone viral, the boy got so terrified that he left the place with no intention to return. It was only after the video went viral that the authorities took any notice of the incident and took necessary actions. The school administration wrote to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan(KVS), followed by which, Upendra Kushwara, Minister of State for HRD has also asked for a report. The KVS is an autonomous body under the HRD ministry.

Headed by ML Mishra, KVS assistant commissioner, a 4-member team had visited the school on Friday and spoke to the victim, accused, teachers and a few other students. Mishra is expected to submit the report by Monday. KVS sources told IE that the accused brothers must be rusticated. The school’s principal Rajeev Ranjan has also come under the scanner for not informing his seniors and the district administration about the incident. The District Magistrate received a report on the same only two days ago.

Ranjan, in his defence, said that the school administration had suspended the brothers for 10 days after learning about the matter. A case has been lodged against the brothers by Qazi Mohammedpur police station.
