The counting for the first phase of Bihar urban local bodies municipal elections 2017 started today

Bihar Nagar Palika, Nagar Nigam, Nagar Panchayat elections result 2017: The counting for the first phase of Bihar urban local bodies municipal elections 2017 started today. The voting for these bodies was carried out on May 21. According to Bihar State Election Commission, the polling ended peacefully on Sunday with around 64 per cent turnout.

The polling was conducted for seven municipal corporations — Gaya, Munger, Biharsharif, Darbhanga, Ara, Bhagalpur and Muzaffarpur, 31 Nagar Parishad (municipal council) and 63 Nagar panchayats. Addressing reporters on Sunday, Bihar State Election Commissioner AK Chouhan had said, “About 64 per cent polling took place till 5 pm. The voting percentage may increase once we receive the final reports from all the districts.”

The counting of votes of Gaya Municipal Corporation is being done at the district school, Sherghati Nagar Panchayat’s in Sherghati, Bodh Gaya Nagar Panchayat’s in Bodh Gaya and of Tikari Nagar Panchayat in Tikari. As many as 105 wards of Gaya Municipal Corporation had gone to polls on Sunday.

As many as 13,027 candidates are in the fray.

According to the SEC, Patna Municipal Corporation polls will be held on June 4 while the election for all other Nagar Parishads and Nagar panchayats in district Patna district will be held on June 7. PTI reports that Barsoi Nagar Panchayat in Katihar district would also go to polls on June 4.

On Sunday, polling was canceled at a polling station of Naugachhia Nagar Panchayat in district Bhagalpur district after an EVM was found damaged there. At a polling station of Saharsa Nagar Parishad, some anti-social elements had damaged the EVM. However, the polling was carried out after the EVM unit was replaced.

During the polling on Sunday, as many as 769 people were put under preventive arrest, while 319 vehicles were seized.

    Gundagardi is integral part of bihar election. No party can win elections without Gundagardi or manipulation. Election in india free and fair is myth will be myth till all these elements are out of election.

      You have a wrong perception about patna,Bihar coz I live here and I m witnessing everything and there is no so called gundagardi as every 'anti bihari' says in patna during the elections...

        These elections were not fought on party symbols. It was individual fanfares.
