West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today lashed out at PM Narendra Modi over the demonetisation crisis that left people in trouble across the country as the financial system has been drained of the old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. During a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow, referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that government treasury has received a huge amount, she said, “Sabka rupaya chheen ke bolte hain hamare paas bahut rupaya ho gaya hai. Zabardasti kar rahe hain Modiji.” She also taunts PM Modi by saying, “PM Ji you think you alone are intelligent.”

Banerjee is among the leaders who vociferously opposed government’s decision to phase out high denomination bank notes to curb corruption and counterfeit currency. Earlier, she held a rally in Delhi’s Azadpur Mandi, which is the largest fruit and vegetable market in Asia.

Citing the misery of people who have marriage in the family but struggling with cash crunch she said, “Beti ka shaadi hai to Modi ke pairon me pado vo bachaega, chupa rustam bannke desh ko loot liya.” She also slammed government over the measures to minimise people’s problem. “Big Bazar me chhutta milega lekin cooperative bank me gareeb or kheti ke liye nahi milega,” she said.

“Note culling has shut shops, markets and agricultural operations. Our fight against note ban will continue till the decision is revoked,” she further said.

It was a huge gathering in her rally which was also attended by SP leader Kiranmoy Nanda.
