Furious over the demonetisation move by the Central government, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has seldom missed any opportunity to criticise the Narendra Modi led government ever since the November 8 announcement that banned Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. She had pledged to take out rallies against the ban and is holding to her course in the bold manner that only she is capable of.
After taking out rallies in Delhi (Jantar Mantar, Parliament House), her next stop was Patna. Addressing a rally there today, Mamata targeted PM Modi saying, “Big Bazaar ka bigg boss hamare desh ka Pradhan Mantri hogaya hai.” She went on to make other statements that taunted the PM including, “Children these days say that the other word for Paytm is ‘PayPM.”
That was not the end of it. Mamata had more ammunition up her sleeve. Talking about the emergency savings that housewives and grannies make, she continued, “Dikkat ke samay ghar ka mahila saving deta hai, Modi ne sab le liya. Ye streedhan aur stree shakti ka apmaan hai.” She accused the PM of ‘looting’ this emergency money, thereby insulting women.
Blaming the Modi government of mismanagement and failure in implementing the demonetisation move, Mamata added, “The current situation is worse than the Emergency, this is a financial emergency” . In empathy with the plight of women, Mamata concluded by saying, “Bheekh maanng kar khaega, road pe rahega par aapka paisa nahi chahiye.”
