An accused in the Bhanwari Devi murder case, Indira Bishnoi, who was earlier arrested today by the Rajasthan Police, has been sent to the seven day police custody, an ANI report said. The accused was evading arrest since last six in the sensational murder case.
The murder case, had grabbed headlines in 2011, when the then rajasthan minister Mahipal Maderna’s name was linked iwith the murder of Bhanwari, an auxiliary nurse midwife, PTI said .
“A Rajasthan police team with the help of Madhya Pradesh police arrested Indira Bishnoi from Nemawar area last night,” Additional Superintendent of Police (Dewas) Anil Patidar was quoted by the news agency as saying. The accused had carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh on her head. She was living with a family in in Nemawar as a destitute, police souces were quoted by the agency as saying.
Till now, CBI has filed three charge sheets against as amany as seventeen including Maderna and former Congress MLA Malkhan Singh, the report added. Among them, 15 were sent in judicial custody, one was out on bail and Bishnoi was un hiding.
Bhanwari Devi, who was posted as an auxiliary nurse midwife at a sub- centre in Jaliwada village in Rajasthan had gone missing on September 1, 2011. She had gone missing, after some news channels allegedly aired a CD showing Maderna in compromising position with the 36-year-old nurse, the PTI added further.
The probe agency had said that she was allegedly abducted from Jodhpur’s Bilara area on the day and was murdered. Her body was then handed over to another gang dumped the remains in a canal. Maderna (65), who waho was an MLA from Osian Assembly constituency that time, was arrested on December 2, 2011 in Jodhpur by the CBI along with Parasram Bishnoi.
