With Uttar Pradesh all set to go to polls early next year, it seems the religion card will once again crop up as a tool to garner support for Hindu voters in the state.
As Centre already has planned to set up a Ramayana museum in Ayodhya has gathered momentum, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh has also announced Ramleela theme park in the same city.
The announcement by the UP chief minister had come after the BJP-lead Government in the Centre has identified 25-acre plot some distance away from Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid complex.
Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma is likely to visit Ayodhya on Tuesday to inspect the suggested site where the government is planning to build the museum, which would be part of Ramayana Circuit , the PTI has quoted government sources as saying.
The tourism minister will also hold the meeting with Ramayana Circuit Advisory Board during the visit, which routes for connecting Ramayana-related sites in Nepal and Sri Lanka with the proposed museum is likely to be discussed.
Criticising the move by both Centre and the state government, BSP supremo Mayawati said both parties are playing religion card with eye on politics. She asked why the Modi Government decided to develop the museum and SP government decided to come out with the theme park just before the polls.
She also warned both the Centre and State government should develop museum and theme park with cautions so that the disputed area is not affected.
Mayawati also got support from the Congress which also said that the timing of building the musuem and the theme park is a matter of concern.
