Surprised by the escape of the eight militants from the banned Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) group and their encounter thereafter, President of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, Asaduddin Owaisi urged for a proper and independent investigation on the entire matter. Owaisi demanded Supreme Court probe for an independent investigation.
The AIMM chief claimed that there is quite a lot of discrepancy between the statements of police officials and the Home Minister and the complete theory is generally doubtful.
“Very socking that from high-security central prison of Bhopal 8 alleged SIMI activists escaped: Asaduddin Owaisi,” Owaisi told media.
Expressing disbelief on the police’s version of the incident, Owaisi questioned why the under trial prisoners were wearing proper clothes, shoes and watches, while an under trial prisoner is usually not provided with the same.
However, the Inspector General of police, Yogesh Choudhary had today claimed that the militants were killed in cross-firing and police had recovered 4 fire arms and 3 sharp weapons from them.
There was high alert in Bhopal on Monday morning, after reports that 8 terror suspects from the banned SIMI group had escaped from the Bhopal Central prison after allegedly killing a head constable and tieing up one guard. Hours later the police hunt them down, 15 Kms away from the prison and the 8 militants were killed in a cross firing. The National Investigating Agency (NIA) will be investigating the matter.
