Former Congress leader and Ex Foreign Minister SM Krishna joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today at the party headquarters in New Delhi in the presence of national party President Amit Shah. The 84-year-old leader served Congress for over 45 years and then resigned from the party on January 29, 2017 stating that they no longer needs him. Krishna started his political career in 1962, when he joined the Praja Socialist Party and then he joined the Indian National Congress party in 1983, when Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister and served under her for one year and then from 1984 to 1985 under Rajiv Gandhi. SM Krishna served as the 16th Chief Minister of Karnataka from 1999 to 2004 and was also the 19th Governor of Maharashtra from 2004 to 2008. While his political career under Congress included a lot of ups and downs, him joining BJP has led to people making fun of him on social media.
