As India and Pakistan’s tug-of-war on Kashmir refuses to bite the dust, Former Special Secretary of Cabinet Secretariat Tilak Devasher in an interview with ANI gave some eloquent insights on the same, on Pakistan’s stand on terrorism, Pakistan and China’s relationship and much more.
Devasher also talked about the recent statement of Pakistan Army Chief Raheel Sharif’s statement that the solution to Kashmir is the implementation of the UN resolution. He said that it was less of an Army chief speech but more of a President or PM’s.
He further took a swipe at the UN resolution being referred by saying, ‘I am not sure how many people in Pakistan have read what the UN resolution actually says’.
Devasher said that there is huge deterioration in relations between US and Pakistan. The terrorism being aided under the wings of Pakistan has led to support being withdrawn by the States as well. The United States of America had previously been providing financial support to Pakistan to fight terrorism however the recent terrorist acts have witnessed that side getting colder.
The former Secy said that though he was not sure how many in Pakistan understand but as per the UN resolution, Pak will have to withdraw Army from PoK and Gilgit Baltistan. And if this happens, there will be a huge uprising,China would be worried about its investment.
The former Secretary explained how China is being the pillar behind Pakistan’s motives for its own good and the resolution to Kashmir issue will never be a call taken by China.
