AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in a protest against the demonetisation, will address a rally of small traders, farmers and labourers at Azadpur Mandi on Thursday. The Chief Minister and his deputy, Manish Sisodia had earlier met this class of people in some of the major trading centres in Delhi, such as Azadour, Chandni Chowk and East Delhi to take a note of the implications of the demonetisation of high denomination currency notes.
Earlier on Wednesday, TMC Chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, along with other TMC MPs, MPs from Shiv Sena and former CM of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah had marched to the Rashtrapati Bhawan from the Parliament, and sought a stay on demonetisation. Although Arvind Kejriwal had also been invited to join, it was reported by IE that he did not want to be associated with some leaders with corruption charges against them.
However, this theory was disputed by senior leaders who told IE that the Delhi CM had a good rapport with Mamata Banerjee and will completely support her in the fight against demonetisation. Earlier Kejriwal had also tweeted that Mamata Banerjee will also be present during the rally at Azadpur Mandi, as he requested others’ presence. He had announced that he will be addressing the rally ar 11:30 am on Thursday. An official statement released by the AAP also said that Arvind Kejriwal was going to expose the big scam of demonetisation.
