Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya today lashed out at famed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap for demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s apology for paying a courtesy visit to the neighbouring country and meeting his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif. Kashyap also took a dig at PM Modi over recent controversy over the informal ‘ban’ on films starring Pakistani actors by a section of cinema owners. Kashyap also showed solidarity with the makers of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which is facing ban for casting Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. Subsequently, Abhijeet, who is known for his controversial statements, took a swipe on Kashyap saying, “PM Modi tried verbal communications with Pakistan but it did not work. Now, he has packed a punch. It’s your turn now after Karan Johar, Mahesh Bhatt”.

Earlier, bollywood director and producer Madhur Bhandarka had taken a dig at Kashayp. He said, “Whatever Anurag Kashyap said is wrong, Neither BJP nor Government has issued any ban, it has become a trend to protest against Modiji”.

As the heat over the presence of Pakistani actors in Bollywood grows, Bollywood seems to be deeply divided over the issue. So far, superstar Salman Khan, filmmakers Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Hansal Mehta, Nagesh Kukunoor and veteran actor Om Puri are among those who have opposed the ban while celebrities like Ajay Devgn, Randeep Hooda and Sonali Bendre have backed the move.
