AMU Professor dies after authorities failed to arrange for an ambulance for 6 hours

In a shocking incident at the Aligarh Muslim University campus, a professor succumbed to death because the authorities couldn't arrange for an Ambulance. Dr. D Murthy, professor of Tamil at the Department of Modern Indian languages at AMU died after the University authorities couldn’t manage an Ambulance for 6 hours. Dr D Murthy was in the University Hospital for treatment of cancer. He had been on ventilator and had been referred to Delhi.

Dr Murthy’s condition had deteorated following a surgery for cancer and he was referred to Delhi but the University authorities failed in making arrangements for shifting his base even after 6 hours. Now, the incident has attracted staunch criticism towards the AMU administration for the leniency on their part, demanding strict action to be taken.

AMU spokesperson said that a special team has been formed to investigate the matter and whoever is found at fault will be penalised. ”We are not going to leave any stone unturned,” he added.

The Surgeon at the University Hospital confirmed that Murthy had cancer and had been referred by them to the Delhi Hospital.

Another fellow Professor and a friend of Dr.Murthy’s, Prof Shaikh Mastan said ”Ambulance couldn’t be arranged in time as there was no coordination between the Chief Medical Officer and doctors.”
