The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah today met party councillors days after the party won a huge majority in the MCD polls, an Aaj Tak report said. After congratulating the councillors for the party’s win, Amit Shah sent a strong warning to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by saying that winning the civic polls was the first step of the party to next winning the Assembly polls in Delhi.
Shah also had a strong, morale boosting message for those party candidate who did not fare well. While stressing that the party does not differentiate between winning and losing candidates, Amit Shah added that those who forget their defeats can’t progress in life. Asking the new councillors to be more candid to the people after winning the MCD polls, he said, “the recent win in Delhi is a lesson for negative politics in the country”.
Pointing to the work being done by the BJP-led NDA government, the party chief also said that the economy of the country has improved and also several works have been done for the farmers of the country. Amit Shah also urged the newly elected BJP councillors to work harder in order to set and example for others and said that the efforts have to be made to turn the city into the model capital of the country. He also took a dig at several Opposition leaders who had said that “EVM tampering” was the reason behind their defeats. Shah said that not the election machines but party work and workers were the reasons for the wins or defeats in the national capital.

In the recently concluded MCD polls, the BJP won 182 seats out of 270 total seats in the national capital. It was followed by AAP with 48 seats and Congress came in a distant third by winning 29. Recently, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had asked party workers to work hard and ensure they repeat the BJP success in MCD polls in Uttar Pradesh state too in the next civic polls there.
