Amid continuing public distress following the implementation of the demonetisation policy by the Narendra Modi government, BJP MLA Ram Kadam had gifted his son a Mercedes on his birthday and more surprisingly flaunted the gift by posting it on Twitter.

The BJP MLA representing the Ghatkopar (West)assembly constituency, had, five days ago, posted the picture of the brand new Mercedes and his son on the social networking site. The text along with the tweet read, “#HappyBirthdayto my dearest son @AumRKadam !!! This my loving gift for him !!”

Responding on the MLA’s flaunting tweet, Harsh Goenka, chairman of RPG Enterprises also tweeted saying, “BJP MLA giving his minor kid a Mercedes on his birthday and putting it on Twitter ! Big brother is watching.”

Citing the increase in the flow of blackmoney in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on November 8 had implemented the demonetisation policy, following which there had bee a ban on currency notes of the denomination Rs 500 and Rs 1,000. There had been a chaotic situation among the common people, post the implementation of the anti-graft policy. And even after two weeks of implementation, cash-starved people are seen standing on long queues, waiting for hours, outside banks and ATMs to collect usable cash from the money machines.

Political storm erupted since the ban on note, with opposition leaders blaming the BJP-government for the continuing public distress. And with heated arguements and political uproar, the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha had been witnessing repeated adjourns since November 16.
