Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is all set to embark on his Vikas Rath Yatra on November 3. However, what will test the strength of Akhilesh’s campaign would be when he steps in the domain of Shivpal Yadav. The first leg will take Akhilesh to Kanpur, after which he will return to Lucknow for the party’s silver jubilee celebrations on November 5. The second leg is expected to take off from Kanpur towards Agra, a route that includes the family boroughs of Etawah, Mainpuri, Etah, Firozabad and Kannauj. Shivpal enjoys stronghold in Etawah and Mainpuri.
An MLC while talking about the Yadav legacy, said that Akhilesh has created a “brand in the last five years” and that the Yadavs will support him the way they supported Mulayam, but that is yet to be seen as Akhilesh has always remained the shadow of his father. Shivpal, like Mulayam, has been able to stay connected to his core bank of Yadavs. After the differences between Akhilesh and Shivpal surfaced last month, Shivpal went to Etawah to visit the family of BSF jawan Nitin Yadav, killed in J&K by terrorists. Shivpal makes frequent visits and interacts with cooperative bodies.
Moreover, in his speech at SP state headquarters on Monday, Shivpal had complained that Akhilesh had not included his supporters from Jaswantnagar constituency in Etawah in the state’s executive committee while he was state president.
The yatra, called Vikas se Vijay ki ore (from development to victory) will be on a 10-wheel Mercedes bus equipped with top-of-the-line gadgets and amenities, reports HT. While the chief minister announced the launch of the yatra on October 3, the Yadav family feud delayed the matter.
The rath yatra will commence from La Martiniere School ground, in front of his residence and will cover Lucknow, Unnao and Kanpur on the first day. A lot of arrangements have been made by Team Akhilesh for the success of the yatra, in which besides video titled ‘Kam Bolta Hai’ (Work speaks), showing the CM working tirelessly will also be shown
