Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has kicked-off his election campaign in style. Akhilesh’s new election video, which in itself is a departure from shadow’s of old guards, gives us the hint of ideological and strategic differences he shares with party veterans. Moving ahead from the earlier strategy of making a person-to-person contact, Akhilesh has chosen a fancy route for mass connection this time. The chief minister’s new video doesn’t shy away from featuring his family, i.e wife and children, lavish office space and the SUV vehicle he uses for commutations. It also shows the aerial views of new secretariat building, and applauses the junior Yadav receives in his public meets. It focuses on communicating a single idea – the ethics and hard work Akhilesh follows for development of the state.
However, the assertive cm’s video makes it clear that he’s not going for any rapprochement in the ongoing political feud over who controls the Samajwadi Party in Mulayam Singh Yadav’s family. The video doesn’t feature even a single mention of party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, or his brother Shivpal, who had been for long considered as no. 2 in the party.

The video sends out a message on behalf of UP CM, who says, “Whole of Uttar Pradesh is my family.” It makes one thing clear-Akhilesh’s emergence as an anchor of every change and development in Samajwadi Party Government and the family affairs.
