Amidst brewing turmoil over a rift in Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav’s political family, party’s senior leader and Mulayam’s another brother Ramgopal Yadav — not Shivpal who was stripped of key ministries by Mulayam’s son and UP CM Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday — has said there is no rift in the family. Ramgopal said it was wrong to remove Akhilesh from the post of SP state unit chief without consulting him in advance. Talking to reporters he said, “Akhilesh would have himself resigned from SP state chief post if the party had asked him to quit in view of the Assembly elections and focus on the CM’s job.”
Ramgopal also denied the rumours that Mulayam has called a meet of the party’s parliamentary board. On Akhilesh’s accusations that some outsiders were creating rift in the family, Ramgopal was quoted as saying by ANI: “There was just a little misunderstanding, nothing else. I will meet UP CM and ask him what he meant about ‘bahri logh'”.
He also said that there was no crisis in SP. “There is no crisis in SP at all, there is no ‘sankat’ or rift.” Ramgopal today visited Lucknow to meet the CM. The party was thrown into a turmoil after Akhilesh removed Shivpal from key ministries of the state on Tuesday. He did this after Mulayam named Shivpal as the new SP state chief. Akhilesh was holding this position till now.
Meanwhile, Shivpal has claimed that he continues to be the minister. “I am still a minister, plus new big responsibility. Netaji is our leader and we all follow his directions,” ANI tweeted him as saying.
