India’s Public broadcaster launched a multimedia service and a mobile app for All India Radio’s (AIR) Balochi service on Friday at 4 pm. The service is aimed at reaching out to the people all over the world who speak the common tongues used across the region. The website and the mobile app was launched by the Chairperson of the Prasar Bharti, A Surya Prakash.
Officials have said that the technological up gradation will provide a better quality of reception to the listeners in the Baloch region and spread through to reach the Baloch Diaspora service in different countries. The move by AIR is a direct indication of India’s open support to the Balochistan after Prime Minister Narendra Modi had openly spoken about the inhuman atrocities faced by the people of Balochistan at the hands of Pakistan.
This was the first time that the Indian Prime Minster had spoken openly about the troubled areas of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and the Balochistan region. Earlier Doordarshan (DD) News had sent its team to interview Brahumdagh Bugti of the Baloch Republican party. (BRP). Bugti is also reported to have been applying for annIdnian citizenship. AIR’s External Services Division (ESD) currently broadcasts in 57 radio transmissions. It covers 108 countries in 27 languages. Balochi is one of 15 foreign languages that AIR is broadcasted in.
