Technology day by day making smooth everything you need. In this series, having a second opinion from a specialist or consulting your problem with the doctor will not that hectic as it was in past. Now, you can reach to an AIIMS specialist by clicking on institution’s website www.aiims.edu.
Patients can log into the AIIMS’ website for a video consultation. According to a report, this feature was added recently to the online OPD consultation system at people’s leisure.
People can online avail specialists from 20 departments, including medicine, gastroenterology and cardiology. The facility will be available for a couple of hours daily, however, it will not be valid for medico-legal purposes, said an official.
This video clinic has been developed by National Informatics Center and provides investigation reports for further references in medical cases. The institution will also depute trained nurses with doctors for coordination during a video call consultation with patients. Each patient will have a particular time frame to discuss his or her problem.
The motive behind the establishment of this video clinic is to reduce patients’ burden, physically and financially, and will also save their time.
Approx 10,000 patients visit AIIMS daily and half of these come to consult their post-surgery problems and about 40 percent seek the second opinion, while only 10 percent are new cases. In this situation, video call consultation is going to prove a big help in reducing a physical number of visitors and will also ease doctors’ work.
