Addressing a gathering at the Kozhikode medical college on Sunday, Mathrubhumi reported that actor and Rajya Sabha member Suresh Gopi stated that AIIMS in Kerala will become a reality once the state government finalises the draft plan. According to Mathrubhumi, Rajya Sabha member Suresh Gopi further said, “An AIIMS is essential for Kerala. The Union government has no intention to deny it. In fact, Union Health Minister has assured this and I hope that an announcement will be made in this regard during the next Budget. As directed by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, talks have been initiated already with state Health Minister Shylaja teacher.”

“It is important to keep in mind that the upkeep of government institutions is the responsibility of each and every citizen, not entirely the responsibility of the government. After all, these institutions are constructed from the taxes of citizens,” Suresh Gopi further said.

There is no need of AIIMS in Kerala. There are already good number of hospitals and health centers (both government and private) in Kerala. Its just a political gimmick of BJP.
