Controversial AIADMK leader ‘Chinamma’ Sasikala has been ousted from the party. According to India Today, the power has been taken away from Sasikala and Dinakaran. The report also states that all the MLAs and MPS have come together to oust Sasikala and family from the AIADMK. Meanwhile, according to India Today, only 20-25 MLAs were in support of Sasikala.
According to reports, all the part cadres were united in the decision. 122 MLAs were reported to have demanded Sasikala’s ouster. 20 Tamil Nadu ministers are believed to have been involved in the decision. Only 20-25 MLAs remained in favour of Sasikala Natarajan and family. Although, it must be noted that Sasikala is still the elected General Secretary of the AIADMK and this can be considered as an inside coup within the AIADMK against Sasikala and family. D Jayakumar, Tamil Nadu minister told reporters that they have decided to delink Ttv Dinakaran and his family from the party and a committee would replace them in running the party. AIAMDK leaders have said that one family cannot run the party.
It seems, in all likeliness that the O Panneerselvam and E Palanyswami factions are all set to unite after AIADMK has sacked Sasikala and family. It still has to be seen if the Palaniswamy camp agrees to all the demands set by the Panneerselvam camp. The AIADMK will now form a committee to take care of decisions taken by the party. Earlier in February, the SC had convicted Sasikala in the disproportionate assets case and sentenced her to a 4-year jail term. Although, this might cause a problem for the AIADMK government in the state if the DMK goes for a no-confidence vote in the parliament.
