After carrying out a revamp of several party district units and restructing the party’s top team, AIADMK will hold its executive committee meeting here on June 18.
The meet, coming after a historic win for the party in May 16 assembly polls is expected to also serve as a platform for discussion for party functionaries ahead of the civic polls in Tamil Nadu which are likely to be held in October.
“The executive committee meeting of the AIADMK will be held on June 18, at 11 am in the party headquarters and it will be presided by party presidium chairman E Madusudanan,” party general secretary and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa said today.
She asked all executive committee members to attend the meet without fail.
On June 8, Jayalalithaa pruned and effected changes in the party’s apex body and announced a 38-member top team retaining trusted loyalists including O Panneerselvam and made drastic changes in several districts. She also appointed 16 new party-district secretaries.
She relieved Natham R Viswanathan, Dindigul district party secretary and also a minister who wielded considerable clout in the previous AIADMK (2011-16) tenure, from his party position after he lost the polls from Aathur constituency.
Similarly, Women’s wing secretary and former minister Gokula Indira was replaced by Rajya Sabha MP Vijila Sathyanand as chief of women’s wing. Indira too had lost in the polls from Anna Nagar here.
Jayalalithaa had dissolved the party disciplinary and petitions (consideration) committees besides the assembly constituency-wise party secretaries and joint secretaries in all the 234 constituencies.
