Minutes after Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath confirmed that the suspicious white powder found inside the UP Assembly was identified as dangerous explosive Pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN), a security check was conducted in Parliament, Delhi as well, according to a report by ABP News. As per the report, both the houses of the Parliament were checked by special security teams. The channel reported that checking was done even under the seats of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha which is a clear signal that the central government is not taking the incident lightly.
Apart from the two houses, a security check was also conducted in the historic Central Hall of the Parliament. This is the same hall which was recently used for the launch of GST on June 30. Back then a grand midnight bash was organised in the hall which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee, vice-president Hamid Ansari, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and many other political leaders.
The checking was done only a few minutes after Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath had demanded an NIA investigation of the matter. While addressing the state Assembly the UP CM had said that 500 grams of PETN is enough to blow up the entire building and we have recovered 150 grams of the same substance. Adityanath said that it is very difficult to identify this explosive and even the dog squad failed to recognise it. Urging the other leaders to take the security issue more seriously he asked can we allow one individual to play with the safety of 503 MLAs? “Understanding the seriousness of the incident, we should all make sure that no one is allowed to play with the security of the Assembly members,” he added.
“PETN explosive was found, action must be taken against those involved. NIA must investigate this. Everyone needs to be cautious related to security matters. Police verification needs to be done for workers in assembly. Security guidelines must be issued and everyone must follow them: CM Yogi Adityanath in UP assembly,” the Uttar Pradesh chief minister was quoted as saying by ANI.
