After reports emerged of punitive ‘fire assault’ on the Pakistani posts by the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir’s Nowshera district, Union Defence Minister Arun Jaitley said such actions are needed to ensure peace in Jammu and Kashmir. Jaitley, in his tweet, called it preemptive and measured action to counter terrorism in the Valley. He clearly said that the Government supports the Indian Army in its action. According to PTI report, the Indian Army said on Tuesday that it has destroyed Pakistan army post in the Naushera sector by carrying out sustained ‘fire assaults’ across the Line of Control (LoC) as part of its anti-terror operations. It also released a video supporting the strike.

Arun Jaitley also shared two posts on his Twitter account on Indian Army’s exercise. In the first tweet, he wrote, “Government supports the actions of #IndianArmy across LoC. Such actions are needed to ensure peace in J&K.” It was soon followed by another post mentioning “#IndianArmy is taking preemptive & measured actions to counter terrorism in valley & disengage Pak posts across LoC supporting infiltration”

The Shiv Sena also lauded Indian Army. Party leader Arvind Sawant told news agency ANI though this step of Indian Army came late, but was strong and they welcome it. He further said that the army should not stop until the ‘Tiranga is hoisted in Lahore’.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Army today dismissed the reports saying it is “false” India’s assertion that it decimated a Pakistan Army post in the Naushera sector, as per ANI reports.
