Tamil Nadu at this juncture is in a state of anxiety with the acting Chief Minister O Paneerselvam and Amma’s confidant Sasikala headed for a split in the camp. Leaders have come in support for both the challengers of the Tamil Nadu CM throne.
O Paneerselvam’s sudden outbreak in the media after visiting Poes Garden has led to a trail of rumours as to some sort of support from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The rumours were later put to rest following Venkiah Naidu’s staement.
Sasikala said all the party MLAs were united as a single family. She also accused DMK of being behind Panneerselvam’s action giving an example of “smile” shared between Paneerselvam and DMK’s Working President M.K. Stalin in the state Assembly. Dismissing charge that he was forced to resign, she said he was prompted by DMK to level the charges.

Soon after joining the camp, he praised O Pannerselvam and said that he was the man who had captured the heart of the masses. Pandiarajan also expressed confidence that Jayalalithaa’s legacy would continue to rest on his shoulders.
Stressing that this is the voice of the collective that Panneerselvam should continue as state chief minister, he further said that writing is in the wall and all MPs and MLAs will soon see it. The minister also expressed confidence that the governor will soon take a decision in an impartial manner.
Presently, AIADMK is split in two camps where each day leaders recognising themselves to be a part of either camps. Not only leaders, but the common man of Tamil Nadu have headed for a split with their choice of Chief Minister. Panneerselvam’s shocking revelations about how he was forced to resign have sent ripples across Tamil Nadu.
O Paneerselvam has announced a probe into Jayalalithaa’s death – a very important move that will instantly strike an immediate chord of trust with the people of Tamil Nadu, who have been talking in whispers about the lack of transparency in the treatment. That he has the courage to be transparent and ready to announce a probe is something that sends out a powerful message to the people and to Sasikala Natarajan – who is being seen as some one who is hesitant to reveal anything about Jayalalithaa’s hospitalisation.

Whatever may be the case but Tamil Nadu politics at this moment has given us enough reasons for shock and awe. Now who reigns the throne at the end of this challenge will be something to look out for.
