On Thursday afternoon, the Allahabad High Court set aside CBI’s court order and acquitted Rajesh and Nupur Talwar in Aarushi Talwar murder case. This decision by the Allahabad HC was a big one as it accepted the plea from Rajesh and Nupur Talwar who were convicted of the murder of their own daughter earlier. The reason behind this decision was that there was no solid evidence on the basis of which the parents could have been held guilty. According to the news agency ANI, the Allahabad High Court was of the view that as per circumstances and evidence on record, Rajesh and Nupur Talwar can’t be held guilty.
The bench headed by the Allahabad High Court justices BK Narayana and AK Mishra gave the benefit of doubt to Aarushi’s parents. Interestingly, they were given life sentence by a CBI court because of lack of evidence. This judgment obviously didn’t trigger a positive reaction from the Central Bureau of Investigation. While speaking to ANI, a CBI official said that the agency is now waiting for the judgment copy and will decide its next course of action after studying it.
Rajesh Talwar and Nupur Talwar were sentenced to life in jail after Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ghaziabad convicted them for the gruesome killings of their daughter and their domestic help Hemraj. Aarushi was found murdered in her bedroom in the flat in Jal Vayu Vihar On May 16, 2008.
The couple was currently lodged in Dasna jail in Ghaziabad. Nupur was recently out on parole for a few weeks following a High Court order on August 29, 2016. The verdict was given under tight security at the Allahabad High Court. In an immediate reaction, Aarushi’s grandfather BG Chitnis told Times Now that he always believed that Rajesh Talwar and Nupur Talwar were innocent. Chitnis also thanked the Indian judiciary for the verdict.
