In the wake of the controversy around the alleged assault of the Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash, AAP MLA Naresh Balyan has made a statement that has put fuel to the fire. While addressing a gathering, he said that the officials who sit on files and obstruct the smooth implementation of government’s welfare schemes should be thrashed. He said the above while accusing the Delhi Chief Secretary of making a false allegation on the AAP leaders. The AAP MLA from Uttam Nagar further added that the officials are not letting CM Arvind Kejriwal’s scheme reach people as the AAP government has put a ban on the previously prevalent ‘setting’ and the ‘commission’ system in the bureaucracy.
Meanwhile, party supremo Arvind Kejriwal, while addressing an event to mark the 142nd anniversary of Sant Gadge Baba, said that he will continue his fight against the LG, BJP, Congress, and the Delhi Police in order to make welfare schemes reach the people. Earlier, in the day, Kejriwal’s residence was searched by the Delhi police and the recordings of 21 CCTV footage were seized by the police in order to investigate the alleged assault of the Delhi Chief Secretary. On being asked about the incident, Kejriwal replied with a counter allegation saying that he was happy that the police is probing the matter but will the police dare to question Amit Shah for his alleged involvement in the Justice Loya death case.

Stepping up the attack on the BJP, AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Aushotosh held a press conference, in which they claimed that the Delhi police is working on the whims of the Centre. They alleged that the Delhi police, in an attempt to please their ‘masters’, have stooped to a new low. They also threatened a wide-spread protest by AAP members against Modi’s dictatorship tomorrow. They also questioned as to why the molesters of their leaders – Ashish Khetan and Imran Hussain, are not being held by the police. Notably, the two AAP leaders allegedly faced an assault by the officials at the Delhi Secretariat.
On the other hand, political opponents of Kejriwal have condemned the statements by Balyan alleging that the Delhi CM is trying to deflect from the matter as he has nothing to say in his defence. Manisha Saxena, Secretary, IAS Association, also accused the Kejriwal led government of harassing the bureaucrats. She also held a meeting with the Ministers of State conveying them the grievances of the officials.
