AAP suspends Devinder Sehrawat, MLA says ‘welcome relief’

Sehrawat had called Kejriwal a "ringmaster" who is obliging his "lecherous" coterie and adding more such candidates in the party.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has suspended MLA Devinder Sehrawat from the primary membership of the party after he launched direct attacks on Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Monday. In a letter to Kejriwal earlier, Sehrawat had accused some senior AAP leaders including Sanjay Singh of “exploiting women” in return for tickets for Punjab Assembly elections.

On Monday, Sehrawat posted a series of comments against AAP and its convenor on Twitter. In one of the tweets, he even called Kejriwal a “ringmaster” who is obliging his “lecherous” coterie and adding more such candidates in the party.

Sehrawat is the second MLA who has been sacked from the party. Welcoming the AAP decision, he tweeted on Tuesday: “Welcome relief, My Thanks to all who supported the matter of Women Dignity in public Life.Will put more efforts to bring guilty to the book.”

AAP Delhi unit convenor had said that Sehrawat was suspended from the party till an investigation was pending against him. Hitting back, Sehrawat had challenged the party leadership to expel him. “If you have the courage, severe the ties and expel. With 67 MLAs you could not perform, You don’t have it in you- So Get out of the Way….(sic),” he tweeted.

Last week, AAP had suspended MLA Sandeep Kumar over an alleged sex scandal. The party has only suspended the leaders and avoided not to expel them as it would result in an increase in the number of Opposition leaders.
