AAP cabinet reshuffle: Kailash Gahlot gets transport ministry, Rajendra Pal Gautam receives water

The law department was earlier handled by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Health Minister Satyendra Jain took care of transport.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has handed over portfolios to two newly inducted ministers. While Najafgarh MLA Kailash Gahlot has been handed over responsibilities of transport and law, Seemapuri MLA Rajendra Pal Gautam has been given charges of water, social welfare and SC/ST departments, a Times of India report said.

The law department was earlier handled by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Health Minister Satyendra Jain took care of transport, the report added further.

Yesterday, President Pranab Mukherjee gave his nod for induction of two AAP MLAs in Delhi Cabinet, a PTI report had said. He had also cleared removal of Kapil Mishra from the Delhi cabinet.

According to the news agency, rules suggest that the Delhi government needs to take permission from the Centre before any expansion in its Cabinet. The Ministry of Home Affairs had earlier cleared names of Kailash Gahlot and Rajendra Pal Gautam.

While Kapil Mishra was dropped from the Delhi cabinet earlier this month, Sandeep Kumar was removed from Arvind Kejriwal cabinet after a CD surfaced last year purportedly showing him in a compromising, PTI said further.

Arvind Kejriwal had accused the Centre on Tuesday of holding the Delhi government’s work by allegedly holding back files in connection with the appointment of the two ministers.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, while accusing the Centre of “paralysing” the Delhi government, had said that “delay” amounted to a violation of the Constitution. the Delhi government apart from chief minister can have six members in his cabinet, the agency report said further.
