The AAP today accused the BJP-led Centre of undermining the institutional autonomy of various bodies in the wake of the controversy over of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) Censor Board members resigning en masse.

The party alleged the government has been meddling with authority of institutions such as AIIMs, IITs and DU in the recent past.

“The censor board should be allowed to work independently. This government is increasingly being known for its meddling in IITS, AIIMS, DU and now the Censor Board. Somewhere the question arises whether this institution should function with an agenda,” AAP leader Manish Sisodia told reporters.

Nine members, apart from CBFC chairperson Leela Samson, put in their papers protesting alleged government interference.

THE IMPACT OF AUTOCRACY OVER INSUTIONAL AUTONOMY :- Firstly, Raghunath K. Shevgaonkar, Director of the Indian Insute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, has resigned, triggering a controversy between Union Human Resource Development Ministry and him. Now two days after Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chairperson Leela Samson resigned citing “interference and coercion” by the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry, another 12 members of the Board followed her suggestion of quitting “en me” and tendered their resignations. The critics may say Leela Samson resigned as she was a pro-Congress person. But the matter of the fact is, what she revealed in her debate with Times Now that she had confutation with Manish Tewari also when he was Minister of Information and Broadcasting in UPA-II under Congress regime. SO THE FACT REMAINS, IT IS NOW THE INTERFERENCE OF THE PRESENT GOVERNMENT BECAME UNBEARABLE FOR SMT SAMSON FOR WHICH SHE RESIGNED FOLLOWED BY OTHERS.
