Following the escape of eight members of banned terrorist organisation Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) from Bhopal Central jail, police have sounded a high alert. Union Home Ministry has also sought a report from the Madhya Pradesh government in this regard. Meanwhile, police have announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh each for information on any of the escaped SIMI members. Informing about the incident, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Bhupendra Singh told ANI, “We have issued an alert in the entire state. We will arrest them soon. Jail administration’s negligence is responsible for the incident.”
This is not the first time when SIMI members have escaped a jail in Madhya Pradesh. In a previous major jail-break, seven members of the banned group had fled from a jail in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh in 2013.
The terror operatives fled from the jail on Diwali night killing a jail security guard, official sources said. All states neighbouring Madhya Pradesh have been told to remain alert and keep special vigil along their borders with MP. The escaped SIMI members were identified as Mohammed Saliq, Amjed, Khalid, Abdul Majeed, Mujeeb Sheikh and Zakir Hussain Sadiq. Here are their images released by various media on social media. Alert police if you find them around you.
