MVR Rao
MEERUT, March 24: Local favourite Jyoti Randhawa fired a stupenduous six-under 66 to record the day's best individual score on the home turf but the pro am event at the AGC-Wills Meerut Open was bagged by Patna veteran pro Mohd Islam and his team comprising Yashpal, S.S. Bhaglal, Y.S. Sirohi here on Tuesday.

Finishing first runners-up in a field comprising leading professionals Feroze Ali, Amandeep Johl, Uttam Singh Mundy and Basad Ali, Jyoti and his team totalled just one point short of the winners' 110. Mohd Islam's team edged past Jyoti Randhawa's, thanks to Mohd Islam's 36 points and the combined tally of 74 points of the two best amateurs. Islam played to level par. Jyoti Randhawa scored 42 points, taking the total to 109 with the help of his amateur team-mate's 67 points. Trailing behind at second runner-up position was Feroze Ali's team with a total score of 108.
