PUNE, Oct 16: Rickshaw Panchayat, representing three-seater autorickshaws, will launch a satyagraha from November 1 to demand ban on six-seater autorickshaws in the municipal limits.During the agitation, three-seaters will carry more than the stipulated number of passengers by charging nominal fares. Panchayat president Dr Baba Adhav while addressing a meeting of the autorickshaw drivers at Parnakuti chowk at Yerawada said that the agitation was organised to highlight the irregularities of six-seater operators who carry more than six passengers. The traffic police have turned a blind eye towards this violation, he charged.
In case the police stopped any three-seater autorickshaw carrying more than three passengers, the drivers have been asked not to pay any fine but surrender the vehicle to the authorities.
