CHANDIGARH, Oct 16: It seems like winter is at the door following widespread rain in the region and snow in the upper reaches of Himachal Pradesh.Intermittent rain ranging from a drizzle to moderate showers disrupted life in the City today. It began in the morning and continued till late evening. A light drizzle was also experienced last evening. The local Met office recorded 21.8 mm of rain till 5.30 this evening.
The maximum day temperature dropped to 22.4 degrees Celsius nine degrees below normal. Earlier this week, the day temperature was in the range of 33 degrees to 35 degrees Celsius.
Cold winds blowing across the adjoining state of Himachal Pradesh are also likely to have an impact on the temperature and climate in the City and its vicinity.
Weather experts have predicted moderate to heavy rain with the possibility of thundershowers in the region during the next 48 hours.
