CALCUTTA, OCT 16: Sprint queen PT Usha once again defied age to pick up two gold -- one individual and one in relay -- on the second day of the 64th Inter-Railways Athletics Meet at the Salt Lake Stadium today. The day also saw a rare happening in which all the top four finishers of the women's triple jump bettered the existing mark.Triple jumper Monisha Dey of Eastern Railway leaped to a distance of 12.58 mts as against Southern Railway's Promila's 12.37 mts to win the gold. Kalpana Das, also of the Eastern Railway followed with 12.26 mts. Dey's jump convincingly erased Anju Kumari Markose's mark of 12.13 mts in '95-'96.
The Southern Railway men's 4x400m team created a meet record with a timing of 3:12.6 secs. The third record of the day was in the 400m for men in which Lijo David of Southern Railway completed the distance in 47.40 seconds. That, incidentally, is way below the `target' set by AAFI for the Asian Games yesterday.
