Trupti helps BMCC triumph

PUNE, Sept 18: Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce (BMCC) continued their strangle-hold in the PDMGSC under-19 badminton tournament as their eves defended their crown defeating Fergusson College 2-1 at the WIE Sports Complex today.

Likewise, their boy's were one-step closer from making it a `grand double' as they stormed into the final with a 2-0 win over Modern College and will now take on Fergusson who knocked out Abasaheb Garware College but the same score-line.

In the girls final, BMCC trailed initially losing the first singles, when Snehal Date put out Gauri Kulkarni 11-13, 3-11. Trupti Murgunde the currebt senior state champion rectified BMCC's opening loss with a ease 11-1, 11-3 win over Radhika Chitale. In the deciding doubles, Trupti paired up with Maitreyee Kale to make short-work of Radhika Chitale and Chatura Vaidya 15-10, 15-6.
