HYDERABAD, February 12: There was no threat to Koyna dam in Maharashtra in the wake of mild reservoir-induced earthquake that shook the region yesterday, the director of National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) Harsh Gupta said here today.The NGRI recorded tremors with a magnitude of 4.5 on Richter Scale and was constantly keeping a watch on seismic activity in the region. Since 1962 recording about 150 events so far with a magnitude of four and above, he said.
Yesterday's tremor, lasting about six seconds, was substantial but there was no damage to life. It was similar to the one that rocked the region last April., he said.
