Bengal eves stun PSCB

JAMMU, January 17: Bengal crushed favourites Petroleum Sport Control Board (PSCB) 3-1 in the women's final of the 59th Senior National and Inter-State Table Tennis Championships at the Jammu University, here, today.

However, in the men' section, pscb, boasting of stars like Chetan Baboor, Arjun Datta and S Raman, thrashed Railways 3-0 to take the team title.In the women's team final, Bengal's Manto Ghosh set the ball rolling with a 21-19 22-20 win over M S Mythili to give the winners a 1-0 lead but PSCB's star P Bhuvaneshwari came back strongly to quell the challenge from Anindita Chakraborty as PSCB restored parity. She won 21-10, 18-21, 21-13.

Bengal, who defeated Punjab 3-0 in the semi-finals, again forged ahead when Mouma Das downed A Radhika 8-21 21-14 21-19 while Anindita Chakraborty set aside the earlier setback winning 20-13 21-17 over Maithili to settle the matter in favour of Bengal.
