MUMBAI, May 10: The Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party government, as directed
by the High Court, will deposit Rs 1.20 lakh with the Nagpur bench of the
Bombay High Court on Monday.
Allowing a writ petition filed by underworld don Arun Gawli challenging his
detention under the National Security Act, Justices Ashok Desai and S B

lakh for misuse of office and not exercising their authority in good faith.
While Additional Chief Secretary (Home); P Subramanian, Commissioner of
Police; Subhash Chandra Malhotra and Inspector General of Prisons; M G
Naravane were fined Rs 25,000 each, Jail Superintendents D M Jadhav, M J
Ghorpade and L T Samurdrawar were fined Rs 15,000 each.
The High Court had directed the government to deposit the entire amount of
exemplary costs with the court within 10 days and recover the same from the
respective officials in accordance with the law.
``Since the High Court has rejected our request to stay the operation of the
order till we move the Supreme Court, the government will be depositing the
fine amount with the Nagpur bench on Monday,'' a senior official told The
Indian Express.
