The Union Defence Ministry is set to submit a point-by-point rebuttal to the report of a Maharashta government-appointed commission that said that Adarsh land belonged to the state.
Former civic chief Jairaj Phatak and ex-state Information Commissioner Ramanand Tiwari, arrested in the Adarsh society scam, were today granted bail by a special CBI court here as the agency failed to file the charge sheet within the stipulated 60-day period.
The CBI is thoroughly investigating allegations against Vilasrao Deshmukh and Sushil Kumar Shinde, two former Maharashtra Chief Ministers, who are at present Union Ministers, in the Adarsh Housing scam.
A WEEK after seven accused arrested in the Adarsh housing society scam were granted bail by the special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court, the two others also moved bail applications.
The Adarsh housing society does not have any clearance from the Central environment ministry, and the construction of the building is therefore illegal, the director of the ministry told the Adarsh commission looking into the controversy on Thursday.
